About me

Mikey Friedman (he/they), born in 1999 in Freehold, New Jersey, grew up in transit between the city and the shore. Educated in Musical Theatre at New York University’s New Studio on Broadway, Mikey has only expanded their skills since graduating in 2021, exploring drag, visual arts, and digital and live performance art.

Mikey’s vintage-modern perspective comes from a young exposure to shows like A Chorus Line and Priscilla Queen of the Desert, through which queer representation helped them to locate their own artistic identity.

Today, Mikey inhabits their queer body fully through the rebellious and iconoclastic Electra Fyre, a drag-persona named for Elton John's song, "Electricity.” It is Electra’s Taurean attitude towards captivating and electrifying audiences that manifests and mirrors Mikey’s own ambitions as an artist.

Mikey believes in storytelling through comedy or drama and is drawn to portraying empathetic, naive, and spunky characters. If you’d like more details about their artistic process or performances, please reach out!
